Terms of Service
1. What Mailbreak is
Mailbreak is a Manifest V3 Chrome extension that helps you unsubscribe from email mailing lists by sending real unsubscribe requests via the List-Unsubscribe headers most senders include. When a real unsubscribe isn't possible, Mailbreak applies a clearly-labeled Gmail filter as a fallback.
These Terms govern your use of the extension and this website.
2. Your Mailbreak account
To use Mailbreak you'll need a Gmail account (or a Google Workspace account with Gmail enabled), and for paid plans, a Stripe-supported payment method. There is no separate Mailbreak login — your "account" is the Google account you connected.
3. License and use
Free tier
You may use Mailbreak's free tier on one Gmail account, with a limit of 25 unsubscribes per calendar month, indefinitely. The free tier may be modified or discontinued with reasonable notice.
Paid tiers
| Tier | Price (USD) | Cadence | Gmail accounts |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pro Monthly | $6 | per month | 2 |
| Pro Annual | $34.99 | per year | 2 |
| Family | $49 | per year | 6 |
| Founder Lifetime | $89 | one-time | 2 |
| Standard Lifetime | $119 | one-time | 2 |
Pro and Family plans renew automatically until you cancel. Lifetime plans are one-time purchases.
Lifetime tier mechanics
- Founder Lifetime is hard-capped at the first 500 customers. After that, the tier closes permanently.
- Standard Lifetime activates after Founder Lifetime sells out and is hard-capped at customers 501–2000. After 2000 lifetime sales total, the lifetime tier closes permanently.
"Lifetime" means: as long as Mailbreak operates as a service AND you keep your account in good standing AND we have not lawfully terminated for cause. It does NOT mean we are obligated to operate Mailbreak forever. If we wind down the service, your lifetime license terminates with the service; we will provide at least 90 days' notice and a pro-rated refund if you have been a customer for less than 12 months.
Future Pro features
Pro, Family, and Lifetime customers get access to all current AND future features marketed as "Pro" features at no additional charge, subject to these Terms. We reserve the right to introduce new tiers (e.g., a future Enterprise tier) that are NOT included in existing Pro/Family/Lifetime plans, and to mark certain new features as part of those new tiers rather than expanding existing ones.
4. Refunds
- Pro Monthly / Annual: full refund within 14 days of purchase if you have not used more than 50 unsubscribes. After that, no refund; cancel anytime to stop future renewals.
- Family: same as Pro.
- Founder Lifetime / Standard Lifetime: full refund within 14 days of purchase, no questions asked, regardless of usage. After 14 days, no refund.
Refund requests: see the support email in the extension's Settings → About.
5. EEA / UK consumer rights (statutory)
Important: by clicking "subscribe" or "buy" you expressly request that we begin providing the digital service immediately. You acknowledge that, once we have begun providing the service (i.e., once your license is active), you lose the statutory right of withdrawal as it applies to digital content under EU Directive 2011/83/EU Article 16(m). This consent is required by EU law for digital services delivered immediately. Our §4 voluntary refund policy still applies regardless.
Mailbreak is operated as a trader for purposes of EEA consumer protection law. Trader contact information is available via the support channel listed in the extension's Settings → About.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use Mailbreak to send bulk emails or anything other than legitimate unsubscribe requests.
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract source from the extension binary.
- Resell, rent, or sublicense your Mailbreak license.
- Use Mailbreak to circumvent another service's terms.
- Use Mailbreak from a country where US export controls would prohibit it.
We may suspend or terminate your access if we reasonably believe you've violated this section.
7. Privacy
Use of Mailbreak is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated by reference into these Terms.
8. Termination
You may stop using Mailbreak at any time by uninstalling the extension and (if applicable) canceling your subscription via Stripe.
We may terminate your access if (a) you materially breach these Terms, (b) we are legally required to, or (c) we reasonably believe your use threatens the safety, security, or integrity of the service or other users.
If we terminate without cause, we will refund any prepaid amounts pro-rated to the date of termination. If we terminate for cause, no refund is owed.
9. Disclaimers
MAILBREAK IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE." TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
We don't guarantee that every unsubscribe request will succeed. Some senders ignore List-Unsubscribe headers, return invalid mailto addresses, or have broken endpoints. Mailbreak surfaces these as failed or filter-only states honestly; that is the design.
We don't guarantee uninterrupted service. Gmail API outages, Chrome Web Store policy changes, or maintenance may temporarily prevent the extension from working.
10. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, OUR TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF MAILBREAK IS LIMITED TO THE GREATER OF (a) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM, OR (b) USD $50.
WE ARE NOT LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOSS OF DATA, REVENUE, OR PROFITS, EVEN IF WE WERE ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY.
Some jurisdictions don't allow these limitations; if you live in one, the limitations apply only to the extent permitted there. EU and UK consumers retain any non-waivable consumer-protection rights granted by their local law.
11. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from claims arising out of (a) your use of Mailbreak in violation of these Terms or applicable law, (b) your violation of any third-party right, including via content you cause Mailbreak to send.
12. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be posted at this URL with an updated "Last updated" date and will take effect 30 days after posting. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
13. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of South Carolina, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
Any dispute that we cannot resolve informally will be resolved by binding individual arbitration. You waive any right to a class action. Disputes must be filed within one year of when they arose.
(EU and UK customers retain any non-waivable consumer-protection rights granted by their local law, including the right to bring proceedings in their local courts.)
